Today, Sancho, everyone wants to be famous. They want to be the star of the movie, the hero of the legends, and the admiration of all. They want to do it under their birthname and be recognized for their efforts.
Years ago, in service to my country, I served as an enlisted man. We quickly learned that officers took a lot of pride. If you wanted to suggest an idea that would save everyone’s life, you had to convince the officer that it was his idea, or it would never take flight.
Yes, man has put a lot of effort into owning ideas for profit. They try to make thought private property. We have trademarks, copyrights, and patents to try to give ownership of good ideas to particular individuals.
This is all ego work; it is the creation of enchanters that repeat names until they have meaning among all. They inflate the individual’s ego so they can control the individual like a puppet.
A knight errant will recognize this; he will use being anonymous to spread messages without anyone’s knowledge. To do this, he must first lose his ego. Changing his name is one of the many tools in his arsenal to do just this. You see, with a fictional name, no credit can be taken, so the idea is truly open source.
It has been said that copying is the most excellent form of flattery. This is only half true. You should not seek to be flattered, but there is an honor in someone taking your idea and flying it high like a flag. They take credit for the idea and become line soldiers carrying your message into battle at their own expense. As a knights errant, we just sow seeds. We drop good ideas made of gold for others to find, gather, and call their own. We drop them freely like golden turds that we think no more of after they fall from our butts.
In this way, we can gather many under the banner of an idea. Each calling it their own, they become mercenaries of an invisible puppet master. No one knows the puppet master, so he has no ego to possess him. He has no credit or attack to receive.
So, when you spread good ideas, do so like a ninja in the night. The nail that sticks up the highest gets whacked the hardest. Wrap your messages, not in ego, but in wrapping paper so people think they are theirs. This way you will find joy when they call them their own.
